Mt Lemmon Fire Update #1
By Desert Dog on Jul 20, 2009 with Comments 0
The Guthrie Fire has burned over 2500 acres so far. Fire fighters & Forest Service officials view it as a beneficial fire and are letting it burn excess undergrowth while keeping it within prescribed boundaries. The Arizona Trail in the vicinity was closed for safety.
There is not a lot of information about this fire on the web. I could not find anything on the Coronado National Forest site and the fire was not included on the July 20th National Interagency Coordination Center Situation Report.
It would appear that the fire is not a major concern at this time. However with our dry and windy conditions fires have been know to rapidly spiral out of control and they can move very fast, so it is advisable to steer clear of the area for the rest of the week.
