Mt Lemmon Fire

FireLightening storms in northeast Tucson ignited a fire on the east side of Mt Lemmon between Guthrie Mountain and the Reddington Pass.  According to earlier news reports the fire has burned over 2000 acres and is only 10% contained, as of Friday afternoon.  The high winds we experienced today probably didn’t improve things.  The smoke was pretty heavy in the Tanque Verde area this evening.

If you are planning to go up to Mt Lemmon or Reddington Pass this weekend check the conditions first.  I couldn’t find anything about the fire on the Coronado website.  Judging from the smoke, I don’t expect Catalina Highway to be closed, but Hitchcock campground may be.
